Merry Christmas

As we reach the end of the longest term of the year, I want to say how proud I am of every one of our children. They have settled so well into their classes with their teachers and have worked incredibly hard throughout the term, right up to the final days. It has been a pleasure to see their enthusiasm for learning, their kindness towards one another, and the enjoyment they take in being at school. I hope that the Christmas break provides a chance for rest, family time and fun, and I would like to wish all our children and families a very Merry Christmas. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 5th January, refreshed and ready for the new term ahead.

We’ve had another very Christmassy week at Ravenswood, with children enjoying Christmas jumper day, lots of parties; a Christingle visit to St Gabriel’s Church and even a visit from Father Christmas:

Work like an Egyptian!

Our year 3 children this week celebrated a special and exciting day as they travelled back over 3,000 years to the time of the Ancient Egyptians. They mummified an orange, made canopic jars, enjoyed a Pharaoh’s Feast, and learnt to write using hieroglyphics. The day finished with a very dramatic journey to the afterlife, where the God of the Afterlife, Osiris (Mr Miller), conducted the ‘Weighing of the Heart’ test to determine how well they had lived their lives. Did they end up in the Fields of Reeds paradise forevermore, or were they devoured by his monsters?!

Christmas Parade

We were treated to a wonderful parade from the year 6 children on Thursday who brought cheer to all the classrooms as they toured around the school.

School Alone

Miss Wick (who I’m sure is going to be snapped up by Hollywood) has worked her director magic with Ravenswood staff to put together this fantastic video: https://youtu.be/iNvyeStAUeU We showed it to the children in the awards assemblies today and they really enjoyed watching. Merry Christmas everyone!
